More specifically, I'm Benny Martinson, a freelance web developer based in Cincinnati. I specialize in, well, just about anything you need to have done! With working experience in the languages and applications listed below, I can take on any project from designing a simple one-page site to creating a sophisticated web 2.0 application. And here's the best part: I don't charge an arm and a leg! Contact me to get more information!
But while I spend most of my time staring at PHP, I see myself as more of an artist than a programmer. After all, you probably came here after seeing my designs in one of several online collections or Britain's .net magazine, or perhaps you read my interview in South Korea's DesignNet magazine. Both as a composer, published by Colla Voce Music, Inc., and as a web developer, I believe in close attention to subtle detail and thinking just a little outside the box.
I want to make your website, and I want to get started today! Let's do this.
As promised, here's my list of related skills:
ASAA Music AuditionsThis large Zend-powered application was built for the audition process for the Alaska All-State band, orchestra and choir. This simple interface allows teachers to manage and upload students' auditions, adjudicators to rank submissions, and administrators to run and oversee the process—eliminating tons of paper, CDs, postage, and headaches. |

BenjaminMartinson.comThis is the site I made for my alter ego, Benjamin Martinson the composer. Like the site you're on now, this one delves deep into a minimalist aesthetic, this time creating a clean, attractive interface and a music player out of nothing but monospace text (and a scroll bar). |
|
Select TargetThis ultra-clean design shows how effective a simple design can be. |

Abes MarketThis highly sophisticated ecommerce site is built on the Magento framework, heavily using Unirgy's uDropship module. As part of the Web Solutions NYC team, I helped tame the Magento beast to make this site a reality. |

SyneSynthThe Synesthetic Synthesizer (SyneSynth) is an interactive composition built with Adobe Flash and loops of synthesized and pre-recorded material. The software generates music by mixing 44 different loops in different ways to create a sound world correlating with a specific color. Because the program generates the music according to a probabilistic algorithm, no two performances will ever be exactly alike. The SyneSynth can either run a pre-programmed animation of colors, or can be controlled by the user in real time. So is the SyneSynth a composition or an instrument? I would argue that it is both. For more information refer to the program notes or try it yourself! |

Speakers Lab Coverage Management SystemThis project is a web application I created that allows members of the Butler University Speakers Lab to request and take coverage of work shifts. Includes several types of accounts, powerful database management, and a cutting-edge web 2.0 user interface. |

BennyMartinson.comLook familiar? This site showcases aesthetic simplicity in design, as well as complex javascript animation, a changing background color, and an AJAX-based contact form. It has been featured in multiple web design magazines and several websites including www.DesignMeltdown.com. |

BeginBand.comThis informative website was my first successful web project. While relatively simple, this site has helped almost 200,000 unique visitors find direction in beginning band and orchestra programs throughout the world. |

Want to expand your business by stepping into the e-marketing world? Have an idea you'd like to see become a reality? I want to create your site, whether it's a large-scale Web 2.0 application or a fancy website for your dog. I'm not a throw-it-together sort of developer—we're talking about quality work.
Let me know if you have a proposal, question, want a quote, or have anything else to say and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
